Human Mountain Geography

  • Trained as a human and regional geographer, I am working in the broad field of mountain research, with a special focus on rural–urban interaction, urbanization, and land use change. I develop and pursue the approach of urban montology, a transdisciplinary field of research committed to the sustainable development of urbanizing mountain environments.
  • Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Mountain Research of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Innsbruck.
